Hoje, esta casa perdeu a confiança do público israelense. As pessoas odeiam políticos, odeiam a política. Eles não acreditam que políticos representam valores. Elas definitivamente não acreditam que isso é relevante para suas vidas. Elas estão certas. Os políticos tomam o dinheiro delas e não lhes dão nada em troca. Não há conexão entre a política e a vida real de pessoas reais.
No mundo real, se o seu negócio está com problemas, você poupa. Se suas despesas são maiores do que sua receita, o banco vai lhe telefonar para lhe avisar que lhe estão cortando. Isso é o que está acontecendo com dezenas de milhares de pequenos negócios exatamente agora e com mais de um milhão de desempregados. Eles estão cortando, apertando o cinto. Pessoas estão sendo demitidas por causa do coronavírus, estão comendo de suas poupanças.
Nesta casa, na política, o coronavírus é uma desculpa para uma festa corrupta às custas dos contribuintes. Depois de todo o papo furado de “governo de emergência”, o governo que está sendo formado hoje é o maior e mais desperdiçador na história do país. Trinta e seis ministros e 16 vice-ministros. Vocês chamam isso de governo de emergência? Cinquenta e dois gabinetes. Há menos de cinquenta pacientes de coronavírus em ventilação mecânica em Israel, temos mais ministros e vice-ministros do que pacientes na UTI. Poderíamos colocar um ministro ao lado de cada cama.

Today, this building has lost the trust of the Israeli public. People hate politicians, they hate politics. They don't believe politics represents values. They definitely don't believe that it's relevant to their lives. They're right. Politics takes their money and gives them nothing back. There is no connection between politics and the real lives of real people.In the real world if your business is in trouble, you save. If your expenses are greater than your income, the bank will call to tell you that they're cutting you off. That's what is happening to tens of thousands of small businesses right now and to over a million unemployed. They are making cuts, tightening the belt. People are being fired because of the Coronavirus, they are eating into their savings.In this building, in politics, the Coronavirus is an excuse for a corrupt party at the expense of the taxpayer. After all the empty talk of an "emergency government" the government being formed today is the largest and most wasteful in the history of the country. 36 ministers, 16 deputy ministers. You call that an emergency government? 52 offices. There are less than 50 Coronavirus patients on ventilators in Israel, we have more ministers and deputy ministers than patients on life support. We could put a minister next to each bed.In the real world a person with three indictments can't be a Deputy Headmaster of a school, a doctor in an internal medicine department, a driver for a minister or a cadet at Israel's officers training school. They can't be an officer in the IDF. No-one would put a unit in the hands of someone with three indictments. In this building two Chiefs of Staff of the IDF surrendered today to a man with three serious criminal indictments. You're swearing loyalty today to a man who in a week will start a criminal trial for breach of trust, for bribery and for fraud. In the real world you don't let your children play with a man like that, in this building he's the Prime Minister. In the real world a person's word has value. A promise you make is something that real people take seriously. In the real world no-one wants to be called a liar. Our father taught us at age seven that you're not allowed to lie. If you stood in front of people and swore to them, you won't go back. There's a concept, self-respect.In the real world if someone tries to destroy your family, there's no coming back from that. If someone secretly records you, spreads terrible lies about you, goes to the lowest levels imaginable then you stay away from that person. Real people in the real world say to themselves: If he's done it once, he'll do it again. And they’re right. In this building the lower a politician is willing to go, the more he succeeds. The one who went lower than anyone, succeeded more than anyone.You had an opportunity to stand here on this podium with Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Rabin, people who understood that values was something you had to fight for. They were never scared to stand up for their values. They never gave up and kept fighting even when it was hard. You missed the opportunity to be like them, that opportunity won't come back. With values and principles, there is no second chance. You can't stop being a person of principle and integrity for a year and half and then come back. It's for good.In the real world Israelis are the best in the world. The last few months reminded us just how amazing they are. Children aged 15 delivering packages from the supermarket to holocaust survivors. Police officers and soldiers working in impossible conditions. The medical teams in the hospitals, Jews and Arabs, with a dedication that is second to none. Risking their lives, without protective equipment, to care for others.We were reminded these past months of the strength of the Israeli family. The power of being together. Our ability to stand united when faced with a challenge.That's the real meaning of "unity". Not the empty and cowardly fake that you're presenting here. Real unity is an Arab nurse who passes forceps to the trainee from Rishon who served in Givati who passes them to the surgeon who made Aliyah from Russia who saves the life of the patient who fought in Sinai in the Six Day War. That's unity in the real world. A team of people with a common goal who love and believe in one another.The amazing Israeli people are everything this government will never be. Look at how it was built – zero trust between partners, everything done through lawyers and the courts, trampling over Basic Laws. People who don't believe a word the other says. That's not unity. A legal agreement between people who can't stand each other isn't unity.There is not, and can never be, a unity government under Benjamin Netanyahu. You can't spend years and years dividing the Israeli public, cause one half to hate the other and then announce that you're a unifying Prime Minister. Your entire career has been based on one thing – the ability to make decent Israelis angry at one another, your ability to use fear and hatred. Name one thing that you've done all these years to unite the Israeli people?Why are you forming this government? What's the idea that stands behind it? What do you want to achieve? The only vision you have is of jobs. Seats at the table. Israelis deserves better. We'll be here to remind them that it can be different. There is an alternative, a different leadership. Not a leadership that cares only about its own jobs and seats. A leadership committed to values, to the change we want to lead. This is the change we'll propose: to love Judaism but to fight religious coercion. To stand against racism. To fight corruption. To protect Israel’s democracy from those who seek to destroy it. And those people are sat before me now.To take care of people with special needs and the weakest in society. To build a government that doesn't throw out an LGBT child, that doesn't insult our Druze brothers and sisters with insulting legislation. To lead us on a national centrist, liberal, patriotic path. Of a free market economy that isn't beholden to special interests. A leadership that will make this building reconnect to the Israelis.Instead of all the rotations and games Israelis deserve a government which will deal with real problems. That will focus on education, that will fight and bureaucracy, that will help small businesses. That seems distant but it isn't. It looks impossible but it isn't.Because you've taken things too far.Because the gap between real lives and politicians has become intolerable.Because Israelis are all sorts of things but they're not suckers.This government doesn't represent them, it wasn't formed for them, it doesn't see them. They deserve better. We'll be here to give them more. We'll be here because the State of Israel sometimes takes its time, sometimes makes mistakes but it always comes back. Nesta casa, dois chefes do estado maior do exército de Israel se renderam hoje para um homem com três sérios indiciamentos criminais. Vocês estão jurando lealdade hoje para um homem que dentro de uma semana começará a ser julgado por quebra de confiança, corrupção e fraude. No mundo real vocês não deixariam seus filhos brincar com uma pessoa como essa, nesta casa ele é primeiro-ministro.
No mundo real, a palavra de uma pessoa tem valor. Uma promessa que você faz é algo que as pessoas levam a sério. No mundo real, ninguém quer ser chamado de mentiroso. Nossos pais nos ensinaram, quando tínhamos sete anos de idade, que não nos é permitido mentir. Se você se pôs diante das pessoas e jurou para elas, você não volta atrás. Há um conceito, auto-respeito.
No mundo real, se alguém tenta destruir sua família, não há volta. Se alguém grava você em segredo, espalha mentiras terríveis sobre você, vai até os níveis mais baixos imagináveis, você se mantém longe dessa pessoa. Pessoas reais no mundo real dizem para si mesmos: se ele fez uma vez, ele fará de novo. E elas estão certas. Nesta casa, quanto mais baixo um político está disposto a ir, mais ele tem sucesso. Aquele que foi mais baixo do que todos os outros, é mais bem sucedido do que todos os outros.
Vocês tiveram a oportunidade de se colocar nesta tribuna ao lado de Menachem Begin e Yitzchak Rabin, pessoas que entenderam que valores são coisas pelas quais vocês têm que lutar. Eles nunca tiveram medo de se levantar pelos seus valores. Eles nunca desistiram e continuaram lutando, mesmo quando era difícil. Vocês perderam a oportunidade de ser como eles, essa oportunidade não voltará. Com valores e princípios não há segunda chance. Vocês não podem deixar de ser pessoas de princípios e integridade por um ano e meio e depois voltar. É para o bem.
No mundo real, os israelenses são as melhores pessoas do mundo. Os últimos meses nos recordaram exatamente o quão incríveis eles são. Crianças de quinze anos entregando pacotes do supermercado para sobreviventes do Holocausto. Policiais e soldados trabalhando em condições impossíveis. As equipes médicas nos hospitais, judeus e árabes, com uma dedicação sem igual. Arriscando suas vidas, sem equipamentos de proteção, cuidando dos outros.
Fomos lembrados nesses últimos meses da força da família israelense. Do poder de estar juntos. Nossa capacidade de permanecer unidos quando enfrentamos um desafio.
Esse é o verdadeiro significado de “união”. Não a falsidade vazia e covarde que vocês estão apresentando aqui. União real é uma enfermeira árabe passando a pinça para o aprendiz de Rishon que serviu na (unidade de combate) Givati, que o passa para o cirurgião que fez Aliah da Rússia, que salva a vida do paciente que lutou no Sinai na Guerra dos Seis Dias. Isso é união no mundo real. Um time de pessoas com um objetivo comum, que ama e acredita cada um no outro.
O incrível povo israelense é tudo o que esse governo jamais será. Vejam como foi composto – zero confiança entre os parceiros, tudo feito através de advogados e tribunais, atropelando as Leis Básicas. Pessoas que não acreditam em uma palavra do que o outro diz. Isso não é união. Um acordo legal entre pessoas que não suportam umas às outras não é união.
Não há e nunca poderá haver um governo de união sob Benjamin Netaniahu. Você não pode passar anos e anos dividindo o público israelense, fazendo com que uma metade odeie a outra e então dizer que você é um primeiro-ministro unificador. Sua carreira inteira foi baseada em uma única coisa – sua habilidade em fazer com que os israelenses sintam raiva uns dos outros, sua habilidade em usar medo e ódio. Aponte uma única coisa que você fez em todos esses anos para unir o povo israelense?
Por que vocês estão formando esse governo? Qual a ideia que está por trás dele? O que vocês pretendem conseguir? A única visão que vocês têm são cargos. Cadeiras à mesa.
Os israelenses merecem melhor que isso. Nós estaremos aqui para lembrar a eles que pode ser diferente. Há alternativa, uma liderança diferente. Não uma liderança que cuida apenas dos seus cargos e cadeiras. Uma liderança comprometida com valores, com a mudança a que queremos levar. Essa é a mudança que iremos propor: amar o judaísmo mas combater a coerção religiosa; se levantar contra o racismo; combater a corrupção; proteger a democracia israelense daqueles que a querem destruir. E essas pessoas estão sentadas aqui na minha frente.
Cuidar das pessoas com necessidades especiais e os mais fracos da sociedade. Construir um governo que não rejeite uma criança LGBT, que não insulte nossos irmãos e irmãs druzos com legislação ofensiva. Que nos conduza num caminho nacional de centro, liberal e patriótico. De uma economia de mercado livre que não esteja apegada a interesses especiais. Uma liderança que reconecte esta casa aos israelenses.
Em lugar de todas as rotações e brincadeiras, os israelenses merecem um governo que trate de problemas reais. Que foque na educação, que combata a burocracia, que ajude os pequenos negócios. Isso parece distante, mas não está. Parece impossível, mas não é.
Porque vocês levaram as coisas longe demais. Porque a distância entre vidas reais e políticos se tornou intolerável. Porque os israelenses são tudo menos trouxas.
Este governo não os representa, não foi formado para eles, não os enxerga.
Eles merecem mais. Nós estaremos aqui para lhes dar mais. Nós estaremos aqui porque o Estado de Israel às vezes toma o seu tempo, às vezes comete erros, mas ele sempre volta. Quando ele voltar, nos encontrará aqui.
